As a part of the company’s top management, I’ve always believed that employees who are in excellent condition deliver impressive results. That’s why we’ve made work-life balance, employee growth, and well-being a top priority of our company.

Our Strategies for Promoting Employee Well-Being

At D&V Philippines, we use several strategies to support our employees’ well-being: 

  

1. Regular Feedback and Check-ins 

One strategy that we have here is we keep communication open within our team. By having regular feedback sessions and keeping tabs on any issues, we get a chance to know the thoughts and concerns of our team members, whether it’s in a meeting, through surveys, or one-on-one conversations. 

It’s an effective way for us to connect and understand what’s going on with each team member. 

  

2. Performance Reviews 

We also make sure that we review the performance of our employees bi-annually to give them clear guidance on their strengths and weaknesses. Aside from this, it is also our chance to praise their work, understand their challenges, and set ways to improve. 

 

3. Team Activities

Another thing, we make sure to organize fun activities for the team to bond and relax outside work. This is a great way to build camaraderie and trust among the team members.  It also helps us understand each other better, which makes it easier for us to work together as a team. 

 

How our Approach Helps 

There was a time when one of our team members was feeling overwhelmed. Personal responsibilities were piling up, and work deadlines were adding to the pressure they were feeling.  

  

Through open conversations and some adjustments to their workload, we encouraged them to take the breaks they needed and get back on track. With this approach, not only did their performance improve, but their confidence and energy returned. 

 

That’s the kind of impact we aim for every time.

Aside from the approach mentioned above, I believe one thing that sets us apart is that we ensure that our approach to work life balance is personal. We don’t treat everyone the same because no two people are alike; by tailoring our strategies to meet the specific needs of each team member, we create a more supportive and effective environment. 

  

This approach, however, relies on a mutual commitment between the employee and their manager. Both parties need to be willing to engage in open discussions and address the root causes of any challenges. What’s key here is to find what works for each employee.

Here are some specific ways we support our team:

We offer counseling to find and solve the root of any issues. This helps with both immediate concerns and long-term well-being.  

This approach not only helps in resolving immediate concerns but also provides employees with tools and strategies for long-term well-being. 

 

Access to Professional Resources 

We provide mental health support, wellness programs, and opportunities for continuous learning. We have a dedicated excellence teams who train all our accountants and keep them abreast of the latest technologies and developments in the industry. 

 

Flexible Work Arrangements 

To help with different life situations, we make sure to offer hybrid work arrangements and adjusting their workloads, if needed. Providing this flexibility helps each team member manage their personal responsibilities while maintaining their professional commitments. 

 

Balancing Work and Personal Life: My Leadership Perspective 

As a leader, I approach work-life balance with an open mind. Diversity is a hallmark of our workforce, and that diversity extends to how individuals approach their responsibilities. This means there’s no universal solution. Instead, I focus on staying updated on best practices and evolving workplace trends to better support our team. 

 

For employees striving to find their own balance, my advice is simple: communicate and set boundaries. Speak up when you feel overwhelmed, and don’t hesitate to ask for help. At the same time, establish clear lines between work and personal time. Remember, balance is not about perfection—it’s about making conscious choices to prioritize what matters most.
